Juliana at Stif
From it's early days until the late 1990's, mountain biking was a boys club. Bikes were designed for - and marketed to - men. To some extent, this still rings true. But, thanks to the efforts of Juliana Furtado and her peers of inspirational women that pioneered the sport of womens mountain biking, times are finally changing.
Having competed at the highest level throughout the 1990's, Juliana Furtado hung up her helmet in 1997 (next to an impressive collection of silverware.) Retiring from professional competitions, Juliana set her sights on smashing the disparity between mens and womens mountain biking.
In 1999, with the help of Santa Cruz Bicycles, the first ever women-specific bike was launched - the Juliana.
Ever since, the Juliana brand has grown to offer the largest range of mountain bikes designed for women across multiple disciplines. Pushing the boundaries of the sport, with more than enough podiums to prove the concept, Juliana Bicycles continues to blaze a trail for women in mountain biking and we're delighted to have them here at Stif.

Juliana 2020 Bikes
Level Up The Playing Field.
The Furtado’s lively personality will let you level up your riding - whether on your favorite backyard trails or far-flung destinations.
With its new mixed wheel setup, the larger front wheel gives you the rollover confidence of a 29er while the smaller 27.
5-inch rear wheel keeps you nimble and ensures you’re tracking through corners with ease.
Find a fun line, fly over features and turn every trail into a playful pump track with the Furtado.
Saving weight means little without retaining an appropriate level of stiffness and responsiveness too. So we’ve taken all the acceleration and out-of-the-saddle sprint qualities of a carbon XC race rocket and fused them with a rear-end that still rails corners like a hardcore trail bike. .
A little bit (cross) country.
A little bit rock and roll.
The Joplin is a bit of an XC wild child, a light bike that’s heavy on capability with a “let’s go” attitude to any trail.
Let’s go fast. Let’s go far. Let’s go until your legs are ready to give up, and then go some more. Let’s make every second count. Let’s carve rides out of busy days and put those lines on the map on your done list.
A 1:25000 scale map, a weather forecast and the Roubion.
Three things you shouldn’t hit the high mountains without.
And while we can’t guarantee you won’t get lost or soaked, we’re pretty sure there’s no better bike to tackle ancient alpine terrain.
The 150mm of VPP® lower link rear-wheel travel and full carbon frame are built for a lifetime of tough climbs and tougher descents. And whether blind racing or just blindly enjoying the trails as they come, the Roubion’s MX wheel combo feels like the best mix since Aperol met spritz.
You’re here to get down. You’re here to go fast. Not fast for a girl. Just damn fast. So is the Maverick. Did someone say smile more? No problem. Tell ‘em to look closer as you set your quads on fire churning up the last brutal climb that makes the downhill taste that much sweeter. When you live for that magical space between pleasure and pain, the Maverick is the bike that won’t say no when you say yes.
With 140mm of supportive rear travel complimented by 150mm of front suspension and obstacle eating 29” wheels, this bike isn’t measured by what it can do. It’s measured by what’s left to do..
Quincy is inspired by a place like no other. Nestled deep in the Sierra Mountains of Northern California is a small gold rush town where the avenues for adventure seem endless.
Miles upon miles of dirt roads that lead to nowhere and everywhere. The kind of roads you want to get lost and found on. Where you don’t quite know what kind of bike is best suited, and forces a constant re-think of your whole darn setup. This is Quincy terrain.
A full carbon frame and fork gives where you need it and takes a beating where you need it more. From tarmac to way-off-the-map, this is a robust bike that’s comfortable on or off-road all day long..
Why Choose Juliana?
A Bike That Fits
Women want a bike that doesn’t let theory compromise real-world handling.
They want a bike that’s been refined to have the most appropriate reach, height, and overall geometry for the terrain they’re riding.
And that’s what Juliana has offered from the very beginning.
With minimal standover heights to accomodate a wide range of rider heights, suspension tweaked to a lighter tune for perfect performance for lighter riders and build kits tried, tested & ridden to podiums by women.
A Bike That Performs
If a stock shock is tuned to work best for the average bloke, it will not perform optimally for the average woman. So, Juliana work closely with Santa Cruz engineers, and the technicians at Fox and RockShox, to develop custom tunes that bring out the best in each of their models
Beyond suspension, Juliana handpick components to suit your needs. Grips, saddles and chainring sizes are subtle details that Juliana have taken care over, meaning you can hit the trails the minute your Juliana bike lands on your doorstep.
A Bike That Inspires
Juliana is as much about creating a voice for women in mountain biking as it is about creating the products themselves.
You'll get a whole lot more than a new bike when you buy a Juliana. You'll join an exclusive but superlatively welcoming team of women at the forefront of the sport. From guides to adventurers, weekend warriors to pro athletes - the Juliana owners club is founded on a shared passion for Mountain biking.
A Bike For Life
Every Juliana Bicycle is designed and tested in California, and specially built-to-order before landing here at Stif. The Juliana philosophy is to create a bike capable of running like new – indefinitely, and with as little hassle and expense as possible.
It's a bold claim, backed up by offering a lifetime of back-up and customer support for every frame they make, as well as a Lifetime Bearing Replacement Program.
